Hi, this is Rick from Bay Area Mold Pros. One of the most common calls that we get from homeowners has to do with a leaky kitchen sink and the suspicion that they have mold in their home. There’s two things you need to do. If you’ve got a leaky kitchen sink and the leak could be coming from the. It could be the garbage disposal.
It could be the dishwasher adjacent to the kitchen sink. It doesn’t matter. You’ve got to get that leak, stop all a plumber out there and have that taken care of immediately because mold spores will germinate within 24 to 48 hours. Number two, you got to dry it out. Make sure you get a commercial dehumidifier machine in there and make sure everything is as dry as it can possibly be because it’s not just the water that you see in the kitchen sink base cabinet.
It’s the water that gets beneath it. It’ll get into the sub floor. It gets into the tile and under the tile, it can even go as deep as the framing under the. In the crawlspace area, you want to drive all these areas out. Remember mold spores will germinate within 24 to 48 hours. And if you take care of these two things, stop the leak, dry it out.
You can save yourself a lot of money and remediation costs. .
